After the first edition of the HOSTELCO show in year 1981 in Barcelona, the manufacturers within the sector saw the convenience of uniting the efforts of the different associations already existing in the country at that moment, which led to the appearance of FELAC in year 1983. Currently with more than 160 associated firms, all of them manufacturing some kind of product within the Hotel and Community equipment industry, each one belongs at least to one of the six associations. The federation has experienced continual growth, alongside HOSTELCO (International Restaurant, Hotel and Community Equipment Exhibition) and as a result , it has doubled the number of its associates in the last 5 years. Although at first, the firms were principally machinery manufacturers, we have gradually widened our range of products, as is shown by the type of the firms that have recently become members of FELAC ; firms connected to different industries that are complementary to simply machinery, such as furniture and furnishing, fabrics and work clothing, disposable items, industrial cooling, cookware and tableware, etc.   GOALS To Foster UNION, dialogue and co-operation among the manufacturers within the industry. To Become the official SPOKESMAN when dealing with government administrations and other public or private organisations of any type. To Promote co-operation between our associates and the HOSTELCO show, which is organised by FIRA DE BARCELONA jointly with FELAC. To carry out several PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES every year. 5- To DEVELOP varying initiatives to improve the quality of the services offered by our associates. 6- Overall, to provide support to the industry in general. To enter FELAC it is absolutely essential for companies to fulfil the following REQUIREMENTS: To have their official headquarters and manufacturing centre in Spain; To provide evidence of being a machinery and/or product manufacturer within the Hotel, Restaurant and catering Equipment Industry. and to be a member of any of the following associations within FELAC.
